Hi, friends! Happy May (even though its already the 10th)! This past month was a whirlwind of me doing nothing tbh, social distancing means I mainly just spend all day laying in the dark listening to music or podcasts. Anywho, let’s move onto the wrap up, which is much less overwhelming than the March’s (thank god).
Non-Bookish Things from March:Β
Work and Other IRL Things:Β
- So, for a fun update, I got denied unemployment which is super fun. I did get a stimulus check, which is nice I suppose. However it also meant I got freaked out because I got a letter from the IRS which turned out to just be a fun wow π aren’t you so glad we gave you money π letter.
- I kinda feel like I honestly didn’t do anything this month. I kinda just vibed for an entire month, can’t wait to do that again this month except even more so because this month I don’t even have school to occupy my time.
Music and Podcasts:Β
- The Front Bottoms
- This month I got into this album by The Front Bottoms, specifically the songs Twin Sized Mattress and Lone Star. Lone Star in particular makes me very emotional, I mean, look at these lyrics.
- She looks me dead in the eyes and says “hey Brian
If you still believe in the Lord above
Get on your hands and knees and pray for us
Get on your hands and knees and pray for us”

- The Lumineers
- I was really into this band in middle school, but I haven’t really listened since then. This past month I started listening to their newer albums, though, and it was really good and I really love Cleopatra, Ophelia, and Gun Song.
- Queer as Fact
- I talked about this podcast in my last wrap up, but it’s basically all I listened to podcast wise this month and it is so so good. It is very well researched and talks about queer history from around the world and throughout time, I love it.
Movies and TV
- Harry Potter movies 1-4
- I watched Soccer’s Stone and Prisoner of Azkaban for the first time and I very much enjoyed them. I would talk more about them here, but I am planning to do a whole post about them once I finish the other four.
- Derry Girls
- Once again, I plan to do an entire post about this show because I love it so much and it is very supportive of the gays, so I won’t say much here. I do tend to mention it on twitter a lot, so you can go follow me over there @tomesofourlives if you want to hear more about it lol.
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine
- When I finished Derry Girls, I was left with a void in my heart. I have been attempting to fill it with Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It is not the same, but it is also gay and funny so I’ll take it.
And finally, onto the 10 books I read last month
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. RowlingΒ
- βββββ
- Reread from 4/13-4/14
- I know that this series has so many problems and I acknowledge that, but this series means so much to me and rereading them will never not feel like going home.
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
- βββββ

- I never read or was read these stories as a child, so they kind of took me off guard at points? They were oddly violent and just, not what I thought they were lol.
Okay, I think that’s enough from me today. How about you, how was your April? Did you read any good books? Let’s chat in the comments!
You had such a productive month with your reads! I’m sorry that you feel as if you didn’t do much during the month, though. I think we all feel a little like that these days.
I got an ARC of Mayhem and I’m very intrigued by it so I’ll check your review!

I’ve also never read the classic Winnie the Pooh stories growing up…it’s kind of hilarious to hear that they’re kind of violent?! LOL!
