Hello, friends! Last weekend was the 24in48 readathon. If you didn’t know, the goal of this readathon is to read for a full 24 hours in a 48 hour time span, however, I have never been good enough to actually accomplish that. I almost didn’t post this log because it is very messy and also I just didn’t do to great and also I have no motivation to edit it, but then I decided to just go for it.
Without further ado, allow me to share with you some random snapchats and a log of what I did this past weekend.
Hour One: I started the readathon with my buddy read of an ARC of Coral by Sara Ella. I began the hour on page 32 and ended it on page 95 with 41 minutes on the clock.
Hour Two: In the second hour of the readathon, I managed to get to page 122 of Coral and also get through 16% of my first audiobook, As I Descended by Robin Talley. All of this brought my reading time up to 1:27.
Hour Three: By the end of hour three my time was 2:06 and I had gotten to 37% of As I Descended, by this point however I was tired and decided to just go to sleep.
Hour Four – Ten: Sleeping
Hour Eleven: At hour eleven I finally woke up. However, I still wasn’t really up for the whole physically reading thing so I listened up to 51% of As I Descended, putting my time at 2:32.
Hour Twelve: I finally found the effort required to physically read and ended the hour at 3:04 and page 169 of Coral.
Hour Thirteen: I read a little more the next hour, getting to 3:39 and page 231 of Coral.
Hour Fourteen: Napping
Hour Fifteen: Woke up from my nap then did nothing really.
Hour Sixteen: I decided to get back to that whole reading thing and listened to As I Descended, getting up to 79% and 4:29.
Hour Seventeen: I started reading Colorblind by Siera Maley on page 90 and by the end of the hour I was at 5:04 and page 153. I then left for work, super fun.
Hour Eighteen – Nineteen: Working per usual, which means scooping ice cream and doing other general concessions things.
Hour Twenty: This was where things started to go down hill. I got super dizzy and lightheaded, then got permission to leave after almost falling down and passing out. The issue was I wasn’t fit to drive and all of my family was at our local campground thirty minutes away and we were so slammed none of my coworkers could drive me. Also the one family member in town just like, didn’t answer his phone. It was amazing.
Hour Twenty-One: I finally got a ride home from my best friend’s mom, then when I got home I didn’t know what to do with myself so I listened to some more of As I Descended, getting to 88% and 5:21.
Hour Twenty-Two: My mom got home and once everything officially stopped spinning we went to get my car (because the baseball stadium I work at isn’t in the safest part of town and no one really wanted it left there for an undetermined amount of time). Once I got home I showered and listened to some more of As I Descended, getting to 93% and 5:31.
Hour Twenty-Three: I finished As I Descended during this hour! I then made the impulse descension to start Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan on audio. By the end of the hour I had gotten to 10% and 6:13.
Hour Twenty-Four: I got to 6:50 and 22.6% of Girls of Paper and Fire.
Hour Twenty-Five: At this point my head had eased off just enough for me to physically read and I finished Colorblind at 7:24.
Hour Twenty-Six: I listened to Girls of Paper and Fire for a few minutes, getting to 25% and 7:31 before calling it a night.
Hour Twenty-Seven – Thirty-Five: Sleeping, or tossing and turning attempting to sleep. A lot of both happened due to the super fun migraine (super fun).
Thirty-Six: At this point I finally woke up.
Hour Thirty-Seven: I planned to go downstairs and read at this point, but my mom and I were discussing how much we wanted Subway so I went and got us food then I ate said food.
Hour Thirty-Eight: I finally read some, getting to 8:05 and 37% of Girls of Paper and Fire.
Hour Thirty-Nine: I kept on listening to Girls of Paper and Fire, getting to 8:59 and 56%.
Hour Forty: I continued listening some more, getting to 9:38 and 71%.
Hour Forty-One: I ended this hour at 10:16 and 86% of Girls of Paper and Fire.
Hour Forty-Two: During this hour I drove my family down to my grandfather’s for Sunday dinner, but I still managed to get to 10:52, page 250 of Coral, and 95% of Girls of Paper and Fire.
Hour Forty-Three: Most of this hour was spent eating dinner and spending time with my family, but I also got to 11:01 and page 281 of Coral.
Hour Forty-Four: During this hour I got to 11:56 and I finished Coral.
Hour Forty-Five: During this hour I read the entirety of Escape Manual for Introverts by Katie Vas, putting my time at 12:12. My dad took this picture of me reading without me noticing, so enjoy that. Peep my sidekick, JJ.
Hour Forty-Six: I finally finished Girls of Paper and Fire, my last read of the readathon, putting my final time to 12:22.
Hour Forty-Seven – Forty-Eight: I love how I put literally nothing on my log for these hours, but I basically just wrote by review for Coral and submitted it and also talked to my mom.
I didn’t realise it during, but I kind of sucked at taking pictures throughout so enjoy these pictures of my dog as a way of making up for that.
Okay, so, here is a final wrap up for the weekend:
- 12 hours and 22 minutes of overall reading, which wasn’t the goal but also still pretty good.
- I read some things:
- 336 pages of Coral
- 130 pages of Colorblind
- The entirety of As I Descended, which is 370 pages
- The entirety of Girls of Paper and Fire, which is 400 pages
- The entirety of Escape Manual for Introverts, which is 144 pages.
- Total page count: 1,380
Okay, that ended up being way better than I thought. What about you guys, did you participate? If not, have you ever participated before? Let’s chat in the comments!
