Mid Year Reading Goals Check In 2019

How is it halfway through the year? No seriously, like, how did this happen? Wasn’t it February like yesterday? How is summer halfway over? What is time? Why is it a construct I must base my life on? These and more are the questions that keep me up at night. I could keep going with other things that keep me up at night, but that it not what this post is about. Today, we are gathered here (suddenly you are attending a wedding or some other official service, though please don’t ask me what type or why) to discuss my 2019 reading goals and how I am progressing with them at this point in time. Let us hope I am doing okay, because I honestly haven’t thought about them since my quarterly check in post.

I should really do better at the whole, keeping track of my reading challenges and goals thing but that doesn’t sound like me to me. And also, if I did keep track of things I wouldn’t have a reason to write these posts that I honestly do find fun to write so I will probably just keep ignoring them until another forth of the year goes by.

Earlier this year I made a list of reading challenges and goals for myself, now I will see where I stand halfway through the year.

I. Goodreads Reading Challenge 

37 books ahead of schedule? That is so wild I cannot begin to wrap my head around it. Maybe I am doing something right after all. I want to say that since I am this far ahead I may be able to have this completed by my next check in post but also I don’t want to jinx myself. Anyways, 111 books halfway through the year? I always feel like I am getting no reading done but I guess I have been at least everyone in a while. Also, since I have never actually linked my goodreads in a post, you can add me here if you want.

II. A-Z Challenge

I haven’t made as much progress on this as I would have liked, I only added one more letter in three months. However, I guess it is only halfway through the year and I only have four more letters out of the 26 to complete so I guess I should be happy. However, I know there is no way I will be able to get those other four letters done unless I actually start paying attention to this so maybe I should stop doing that whole not caring about reading challenges thing.

Okay, I have 19 of these bingo spaces left and I am determined to fill them up soon. Anyways, I also set some fun goals for this year so I will see how I am doing with them.

I. Try and physically read more books. 

I don’t want to be over dramatic or anything, but I am beyond impressed with how well I am doing with this. I am still about 50/50 with physical and audio almost every month, but I have been physically reading so much more this year and I am really proud of myself.

II. Blog consistently!

I said in my last post that I has been posting consistently but wanted to blog hop more and now I am blog hopping more but I attempted to take a mini hiatus last week following my grandmother’s passing but I feel like that doesn’t count? Anyways I want to say I’m doing this but also it seems uncertain.

III. Read more contemporaries! 

I feel like I read a ton of contemporaries last month so I am going to count this as a yes as well.

IV. Start actually writing reviews

Last month I reviewed or mini reviewed all but two of the books I read so I am going to say yes to this one as well.

V. Start taking notes as I read

This is a big no all around, I honestly don’t know what I was thinking when I put this one on here.

 

Okay, those are all of my reading goals and challenges for the year and where I stand with them halfway through!
