Captain Marvel Book Tag!

Hello, friends!! It is Tuesday, so as usual, I will be doing a book tag! I wasn’t tagged in this one, but I saw Marta at The Book Mermaid do this tag and I knew that I had to do it. I just did an avengers book tag at the beginning of last month, but this one is Captain Marvel specific, so there was no option that didn’t involve me doing this. It is what Carol deserves.

Okay, onto the tag, where I will attempt to do my best to not just rave about how much I love Carol. I should note that I make no promises.

Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you! (I tagged myself, I guess? So that’s awkward).
  • Make sure to tag the creator (The Awkward Book Blogger) so she can see your responses!
  • Tag at least three people!
  • Have fun!

CAPTAIN MARVEL – Which character would you photon-blast?

qoaad

Zara from The Dark Artifices

Okay, I feel like I don’t actually hate that many fictional characters, I normally love them, like them, or just generally feel indifferent. However, Zara Dearborn really “grinds my gears” as my grandfather would say. I didn’t even hate her when everyone else started to hate her in Lord of Shadows (which a lot of people will probably find shocking), as I felt like I didn’t have enough information on which to form a true opinion. In fact, I kind of wanted to see a potential redemption arc for her (once again, shocking, I know, but that was my line of thought pre-qoaad) as I felt like she had been influenced too much by her father and that was no fault of hers. However, her actions in Queen of Air and Darkness and beyond have really made me hate her and question why I ever wanted her to be redeemed. Anyways, I would totally photon-blast Zara.

NICK FURY – Genre/series/book you didn’t know existed but wished you discovered earlier?

campostbook

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth

I feel like I may have talked about how this book changed my life once, twice, or a thousand times on my blog. What is absolutely wild is to think about how much this book has done for me and all that it has helped me sort out about myself even though I didn’t know it was a thing until this time last year? When the movie came out I started to see a bunch of people talk about it so I added it to my TBR, I just wish I had known about it earlier, because there is a chance I would have known more about myself earlier then too.

KREE – A team that would fight together and die together?

storm

The Merrick brothers from Elementals

Okay, the Merrick brothers have fought and been prepared to die together, a fact that hurts my heart deeply and also may mean that I am somewhat cheating for this question. Whenever a guide comes into town, the four of them are ready to defend and protect each other no matter what, they are without a doubt one of my favorite fictional teams of all time.

SKRULLS – Favorite shapeshifting character?

ian4

Bernie Kosar/Hadley from Lorien Legacies

I feel like I have to admit that I almost put Luke Garroway for this question, because he is probably my real answer, but I am trying to talk about something not TSC related every once and a while, so I chose someone else. Bernie Kosar is probably my favorite character from this series, he is the bestest dog/chimera/whatever other form he is taking at this time, and I wish more people appreciated him. Half of the Guard probably would have died five times over if it wasn’t for BK.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE – Which author (dead or alive) that you love/respect would you see when you visit the Supreme Intelligence?

Okay, so, I feel like it will come as a surprise to no one that for me this is Brigid Kemmerer. I mean, two of her books are on this post and the majority of my posts feature one of them. Kemmerer has been one of my favorite authors since middle school, and I do look up to her a lot. One of the first things I did when I decided that I was going to try and actually like, write a book, was read her advice section on her website and rewatch her insta stories full of writing advice. She is also just like, super sweet, and loves interacting with fans. Its great.

Anyways, yeah, she would definitely show up if I were to visit the Supreme Intelligence.

FLERKEN – Misguiding book cover?

callitwhatyouwant

Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer

I am not exactly certain if this is a “misleading cover” issue or an “Arin never reads book summaries even though she really should” issue. But, since I didn’t read the summary, between the cover and the release date, I thought this would be a fun summer contemporary. In case you were wondering, it is not. It is actually a pretty heavy contemporary that covers a lot of issues, which definitely caught me off guard when I was reading the ARC.

FIGHTER JET – What sweet ride (fictional) would you love to have?

Illuminae

That one ship from Illuminae before it was damaged

I feel really dumb, but I can’t remember the name of the ship. But I mean the first one, like the giant military one? But like, only before it was damaged. After it was damaged it had a lot of problems and I have enough problems on my own without trying to handle a ships problems too.

PAGER – In the time of need, which character would you call to save you/the universe?

claryfray

Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments

This amazing and beautiful artwork is done by Cassandra Jean! If I ever had the opportunity to call upon a fictional character to save the universe, it would without a doubt be none other than Miss Clarissa Adele Fairchild. I mean, she has experience, she has saved the world twice (something people seem to forget). She is also just so kind, sweet, and compassionate and she would most definitely want to help. I could go on a rant about how much I love Clary (a whole freaking lot, in case you were wondering), but I am trying to do my best to contain that to my emo hours and the massive post I will be writing in honor of her birthday. Anyways, Clary Fray. She would be the one I want to have my pager, I know that both the universe and myself would be safe in her hands.

Okay, that is the end of the tag! I am supposed to tag three people but I always feel weird tagging people when I wasn’t tagged myself, also I have no idea who has watched and liked Captain Marvel, so I won’t tag anyone. However, if you think this tag looks cool, go for it and tag me!! I’d love to see your answers!!

How about you, who would you call on to save the universe? Have you watched Captain Marvel? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. I loved Captain Marvel! I’ll have to add The Miseducation of Cameron Post to my TBR as I don’t think I’d heard of it before now /: and I really need to get on and finish The Dark Artifices as I loved the first two so much.

    1. Captain Marvel was such a good movie!! I loved it a lot. Cameron Post is my favorite book of all time so I will definitely recommend it lol. The last book in The Dark Artifices left me very underwhelmed and unsatisfied to be honest, but there were some good scenes there as well.

      1. Yes I thought it was amazing and loved it so much! There were so many different aspects to the movie that I was thrilled with. I’ll make sure I get it read sometime (: Oh that’s a shame, I really loved the first two.

  2. Loved all your responses! I agree that the spaceship from Illuminae would indeed be an awesome ride (before it started malfunctioning, of course)… XD
I haven’t finished The Dark Artifices yet (I’ve only read Lady Midnight a couple years ago), so I don’t remember Zara but I’ll keep a lookout for her when I continue the series.

Thank you for doing this tag! ❤

    1. Thank you so much! The space ship from Illuminae pre issues seems like it would have been such a cool ride, like a non insane AIDAN and the whole jumping through wormholes thing? Sign me up. Zara comes into TDA in the second book and, well, she’s a lot.
