The A to Z Book Tag

Okay, so, before we get into today’s post I thought I would update you guys on my new summer posting schedule in case any of you care lol. For the summer (maybe after the summer, I haven’t decided, we’ll see how I’m feeling closer to time), I plan on posting Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at least with random posts (mainly book reviews) on other days. On Tuesdays I plan on doing book tags or Top Ten Tuesdays, depending on what I am feeling for the week, on Wednesdays I plan on doing Top 5 Wednesdays, on Fridays I plan on doing my more so “original” posts. I am looking forward to doing all of these things and hopefully you guys enjoy them!

I saw Charlotte from Charlotte, Somewhere do this and I thought it looked like so much fun, I had to do it!

A: Author you’ve read the most books from

Cassandra Clare or Rick Riordan, I am not quite sure which one of them wins out over the other and I will be completely honest, I am too lazy to do the math.

B: Best sequel ever

los

Okay, so this one was like, way too hard. I mean, I have to pick one sequel? Just one? Out of all of the sequels in existence? But, once I finally forced myself to think about it, the one I kept coming back to Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare.

C: Currently Reading

tht

At the time I am writing this, I am currently reading Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee but I am prewriting for once in my life so I am not quite sure what I will be reading at the time this goes up.

D: Drink of choice while reading

I don’t really have a particular drink of choice specific for reading, I normally just drink whatever I have for the rest of the time lol. Today that has been Dr. Wham, milk, and coffee but other days it’ll be lemonade or Kool-Aid. In the winter it is normally spiced apple cider or English breakfast tea. It just depends honestly.

E: E-Reader or physical copy?

This is a super hard question for someone who loves both options dearly, but if I was forced to choose I would say e-reader because I read ebooks much faster and also I can take them everywhere with me.

F: Fictional character you would have dated in high school

Honestly, none. High school me was very confused about my sexuality and tended to just avoid everyone.

G: Glad you have this book a chance

cob

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare! I was so so weary about starting these books but wow have they changed my life forever (for the better)!

H: Hidden gem book

oj

Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt! I love this book so so much and I would love to see more people read it.

I: Important moment in your reading life

An important moment in my reading life was when I found out about audiobooks for the first time. They have helped my reading so so much and wow I love them.

J: Just finished

cacover2

At the time I am writing this, the book I most recently finished book is Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.

K: Kind of books you won’t read

I won’t read horror because I am one of the biggest scaredy cats alive. Like, things that aren’t scary in the slightest terrify me. It’s kind of a problem.

L: Longest book you have ever read

ootp

This is a total guess because I am too lazy to properly investigate, as per usual, but I am pretty sure that the longest book I’ve read is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling.

M: Major book hangover because of

Okay, this may sound unbelievable, but I don’t really get book hangover? I just always make myself continue on with my next read and somehow avoid it.

N: Number of bookcases you own

Two!

O: One book you have read multiple times

storm1

Okay, this is another one where I sat there thinking: I can only pick one? But I decided to go with the book that I have reread the most times, Storm by Brigid Kemmerer.

P: Preferred place to read

I don’t really have a preferred place to read, but I get a lot of reading done at my local campground and in my bed so I will go with those.

Q: Quote that inspires you

“If you care about something you have to protect it – If you’re lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it.”

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving

R: Reading regret

crossed

I don’t really ever regret reading books, but I do regret reading the entire Matched trilogy, especially the second one, Crossed by Ally Condie. I felt like it went on forever and nothing happened. All in all I was not a fan lol.

S: Series you started and need to finish (all the books are out)

thedarkestminds

I don’t know if all of the books are out for the spin off series of this (I don’t think so), but I know the original trilogy is! I started it last month and I just need to read the third, In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken.

T: Three of your all-time favorite books

This is such a hard one, like I am supposed to pick three? But I guess that I will go with Secret by Brigid Kemmerer, The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth, and City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare.

U: Unapologetic fangirl for

coa

Miss Clarissa Adele Fairchild!!!! My baby, I love her to death. I will support her always. But also, I am a total fangirl for the entirety of The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare.

V: Very excited about this release

ws

I am so excited for Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell, I mean, the first line and the summary are very promising.

W: Worst bookish habit

This is a hard one, because I am not exactly sure. Some people would probably say that it’s how I annotate my books, but I am personally fine with that. I guess my worst habit is buying more and more physical copies of books when I know full well I do not have room for them.

X: X marks the spot – start at the top of your shelf and pick the 27th book

hot

The 27th book on my main shelf is The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan. I would love to tell you guys what is the 27th on my second shelf but that shelf has double rows on it and its overly complicated and I’m lazy, as we’ve already discussed.

Y: Your latest book purchase

redwhiteandroyalblue

My latest book purchase is my physical copy of Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston!

Z: ZZZ-snatcher book (the last book that kept you up way late)

qoaad

I was determined to not get spoiled for anything from Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare so I stayed up until like 3 am in the middle of finals week trying to finish it as soon as I could. Looking back, it probably wasn’t my wisest decision, but it is what it is I guess.

Okay, that is the end of the tag! It took me way longer than I thought it would but I had fun so that is all that matters. What about you guys, have you done this tag? Did we have similar answers to any questions? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. I often read your posts via email, but had to pop over to tell you I love this post! These are such fun! I have been wanting to dig into a Cassandra Clare series for sooo long. I’m quite embarrassed to admit I’ve not read anything written by her. Where do you recommend I start? And is there a connection between mortal instruments and infernal devices? If so, I need a road map — or really just a good website that lists everything in order from start to finish. I like having detailed goals. 🙂 Also, I’m adding Brigid Kemmerer to my list, too. YAY! Have a great Tuesday!

    1. I’m glad you liked this post and I’m super excited that you’re adding Brigid Kemmerer to your list!! As for where to start with the shadowhunter books, I recommend reading the first three books from The Mortal Instruments (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Class), then Clockwork Angel, followed by City of Fallen Angels, then Clockwork Prince, then City of Lost Souls, then Clockwork Princess, then City of Heavenly Fire. After that, if you’re interested in the short story collections I would recommend reading Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. If not, you should be all set to jump into The Dark Artifices! The reading order for the first two series seems really weird, but that is publication order and what Clare recommends because TMI and TID are very connected and it helps avoid spoilers. It seems like at lot, I know, and its probably also pretty confusing. If you have any more questions, I would love to try and answer them!!
