A week or two ago, the lovely Brittany from Brittany the Book Guru tagged me to do the Sunshine Blogger Award! I got really happy and emotional when I saw that she tagged me for no clear reason. I spend a lot of time thinking about how the content I’m putting out is average and messy so knowing that someone thought of me when they saw this tag meant a lot. Anyways, thank you so so much Brittany! I am upset that I can’t tag you back in this because you’re one of the first people I think of for something like this.
Now that I’ve gotten somewhat sappy, why exactly is the Sunshine Blogger Award? It is an award given to bloggers by bloggers in recognition for inspiring positivity and creativity within the blogging community.
I. Write a post about your nomination and the award.
II. Thank the blogger that nominated you and link to their blog.
III. Display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo.
IV. List the rules within your blog post.
V. Answer the eleven questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you in your post.
VI. Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions to answer.
I. If, Universe forbid it, you were only able to keep five books and had to get rid of the rest, which five would you keep?
Alright, this is a big question and the first time I read it, it sent me into a total panic. 5 books? 5? But I thought on it, and I have a tentative list. Storm and Secret by Brigid Kemmerer, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth, and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. That way there is a little bit of a variety in my life and its all books I know I can reread over and over again.
II. What genre is your least favorite, and why?
This is a really hard question, but I am going to say fantasy and sci-fi. I do like both genres, but reading them physically is almost impossible for me for some bizarre reason. I have to audiobook them or I just can’t get through them, its really weird.
III. Are you a writer yourself, or just a reader?
Just a reader! Second and eight grade me tried the writing thing, it definitely didn’t work out.
IV. Do you have a favorite book-to-movie (or series) adaption?
Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! The week it came out I watched it twice on my own, once with my mom, and once with my best friend.
V. Do you know any lines of your favorite book/series by heart?
Hi, my name is Arin and I’m obsessed with Elementals by Brigid Kemmerer. The first line of the first book of that series is “The self-defense class had been a waste of sixty bucks.” I also know “the world is really big outside of Miles city.” from the Miseducation of Cameron Post because that quote really sticks with me for some reason.
VI. Do you annotate your books?
Yes! I love annotating.
VII. Out of all the ARCs you may have received, which has been your absolute favorite? If you don’t read ARCs, what are some you think you’d enjoy?
VIII. On my shelves, my most common book cover color is black. What’s yours?
Mine also appears to be black/dark grey.
IX. Audiobooks, Ebooks, or physical books? Why?
This is such a hard question because I use all regularly. I think I am going to go with ebook though because of convenience.
X. Do you think of yourself as creative?
No. I probably did when I was younger and super into art (the hallway and living room of my house features many, many professionally framed paintings done by elementary school Arin), but not anymore. I just don’t feel as creative anymore? Which sucks but it is what it is I guess.
XI. Finally, since this award is all about positivity, give your most positive, influential piece of advice for other bloggers.
I’m going to sound super cliche, but be yourself and be kind to others! I know my mom has been preaching that to me for forever and now I preach it to all of the kids I work with but it’s honestly so important. You are an amazing, special person and the world should know the real you. And it is honestly mind blowing how far a little kindness can go, even if that kindness is just commenting something simple like “I really liked this post!” I know for me even simple gestures like that make my day.
I. Do you keep up with favorite quotes when you read?
II. As a sort of follow up, do you have a favorite quote from any book?
III. Do you have any autobuy authors? If so, who?
IV. Do you preorder books?
V. Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what type of music?
VI. How many books do you typically read at one time?
VII. What are your favorite type of blog posts to write?
VIII. If you have access to a library, do you use it often?
IX. Do you have a reading routine or a certain time or place you get most of your reading done?
X. Do you have any tips or tricks concerning balancing blogging/reading with other life stuff like school and work?
XI. Do you reread books?
Please don’t feel pressured to do this in anyway! Just know I really appreciate your content and all of the hard work you put into your blogs!! Also sorry if you’ve been tagged before or what not, I can’t keep up with who has done this and who hasn’t lol.
