While the seasons will not technically change for a while longer, I get out of school next Friday!! This means that I should definitely be studying for my exams or working on all of my final essays, but instead, I am laying in bed thinking about all of the books I want to reread this summer. This is a very long and semi ridiculous list, but that should really surprise no one. I spend most of my time rereading because I do not know how to read new books, it is a foreign concept apparently.
Anyways, here is my long list of books and series that I really want to reread in the next three months (which are theoretically listed in the order in which I will reread them, but like, it is very possible I won’t stick to that).
It is May and I haven’t reread any of this series except for the first novella, which is honestly a wild concept for me. I am constantly rereading it, as I may have mentioned once or twice or a thousand times by now, and by this point in the year I normally would’ve reread at least the first book by now. As of now, all I have done is reread a couple scenes from each book during my so called “elemental emo hours” where I get very concerned about Nick Merrick’s emotional and mental health. This is all very odd for me so I need to rectify that by reading the entire series in full sometime soon lol.
In case you didn’t know, I have a problem where I cannot stop rereading the shadowhunter books, so all of them will be on this. I plan on audiobooking this series the week after I get out of school as a fun treat for actually like, finishing this semester, a feet that has seemed very much impossible for months. I can’t wait to reconnect with Henry and Charlotte and Jem and Gideon and Gabriel and all of the other lovely characters from the London Institute.
Okay, so I know that I like, just read this (and posted a review! which you can read here if you’re interested), but June is pride month and I think I have to reread this one for pride month, like, I don’t think there is another option. I also have a desperate need to annotate a physical copy of this book so during June I will be wearing my Claremont 2020 tee shirt and annotating this book and its going to be a great time, I can’t wait.
Hi, my name is Arin, and I have this problem where I am constantly rereading The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I have already read City of Bones once this year during a readathon, but I plan on picking it back up and then attempting to make my way through the series (for the sixth time??) this summer. I have a desperate need to reconnect with Clary Fairchild. I haven’t read a book with her in it since March and that is frankly unacceptable, so I must reread these.
Okay, I know I just made a post where I said that this wouldn’t become a frequent reread because of how heavy it is, but then I remembered that June is pride month and well, here we are. I most likely won’t physically read this again since the last time I did it took a month, but since I have the audiobook I will listen to it. I can’t wait to have my heart absolutely obliterated by Cameron Post again.
Oh, the Blackthorns. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this series. Before the last book came out this series was set up to be my second favorite shadowhunters series but after the last book I am kind of just “eh” towards it. Either way, I am hoping that rereading the series in full for the first time will help be better figure out my feelings and hopefully find out that I like the last book more when I am not reading it in 24 hours while stressing over finals and the fate of Clary Fairchild.
I also keep having the random urge to reread the first book in this series like, all the time, so I am hoping that is a good sign that I will enjoy these books more as I reread them. I do want to like them, I just have some issues with the last book? Its just a weird situation and I am hoping that a reread helps that out lol.
For a person who rereads books literally all the time, I have only reread Harry Potter once. I audiobooked them all over the period of like a year (?), I don’t really know, I listened to them whenever my holds from the library came through. Either way, I do love this series. I feel like I don’t have the deep emotional connection to it like everyone else does, it definitely wasn’t the series that got me into reading or any of that, but I do really like these books and these characters. I haven’t physically read these books since I read them for the first time in third grade, so I am excited to re-experience that.
Okay, well, I could probably keep going with this list but I would like to think that at some point I will eventually stop reading books I’ve already read and read new ones. I don’t know that that will ever actually happen, but a girl can dream, right? What about you, are there any books you want to reread this summer? Do you also have a problem where you are constantly rereading books? Let’s chat in the comments!
