Hi, my name is Arin and I have a problem. I cannot stop rereading books. I know what you’re thinking and its “Arin, you literally can. Just pick up a book you haven’t read and read it for once in your life” but that’s just not how it works in this household. In this household, you spend forty minutes thinking about all of the books you need to read, send at least 5 spam messages to Brianna about the books you need to read, then you pick up City of Bones by Cassandra Clare for the eight time and think to yourself that you have a problem.
I am slowly working on this problem, for example, I have only reread the City of Bones once this year and by this time last year I had already done that three times. I also haven’t reread Elementals by Brigid Kemmerer or The Selection by Kiera Cass (yet). Progress, slow and steady wins the race.
But for now let’s just completely ignore all of that progress and talk about all of the books that I will (most likely) be rereading even when I’m in a nursing home in my late eighties.
I. Elementals by Brigid Kemmerer
I’ve been rereading Elementals at least once if not three times a year since I first read them in middle school. I remember there was this one summer when I got through the first two books and then decided I should reread them again immediately instead of reading a new book, or you know, just the third book in the series. I know it sounds super cliche, but rereading these books feels like going home. I know everything about these books, I could probably quote the first chapter of the first one but sometimes life just isn’t going your way and you need to read something familiar and these books are the first I turn too.
Also this series is very underrated and that makes me sad, so you should all check them out. Just go in with the expectation that they’re very much 2012 paranormal romance and know what that entails.
II. The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare
I don’t think I’ve made it a secret that I love these books with all my heart. I mean, my twitter bio says “Clary and Charlotte Fairchild stan for life” and that basically says it all. This series means so much to me, it is the reason I actually joined the online book community instead of just lingering on goodreads. I have an unconditional love for all of these books and all of these characters and I don’t think I will ever stop rereading their stories. There is too much iconic content within these books and sometimes I just need revisit that. I mean, the ten percent scene? You can’t blame me for wanting to revisit that.
III. The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth
Hi my name is Arin and I love Cameron Post.
Okay, on a somewhat more serious note, this book means everything to me. It helped me discover so much about myself and I love it so much for that. Thus far I have only reread this once and it took me almost an entire month to get through so I do not think it will become a common reread, but I get the feeling that I won’t ever stop going back to it either if that makes sense. Everything else on this list I typically read at least once a year if not more, and I don’t know that Cam will ever be that kind of book because its so heavy and takes a lot out of me emotionally, but I think that I will be returning to this book and putting myself through that pain over and over again for years to come.
IV. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
I don’t even know where to start with this one, these books are just so much fun? I always love love love getting to reconnect with Percy, Annabeth, Grover and the rest of the Camp Half-Blood gang. If you’re ever in need of a fun series to distract you from stressful times, I would 110 percent recommend reading (or rereading, as I clearly think that’s a very valid option) these books. Percy is hilarious and relatable, despite the fact that he is twelve years old at the beginning of the series. I reread the first book the other day and I had four or five quotes marked as relatable, this series just doesn’t get old, folks.
V. The Selection by Kiera Cass
I know that the fact that this series is on this list could be shocking to some people, but I cannot express how much I love this series. America? I’d die for her. Maxon? Alexa, play “King of My Heart” by Taylor Swift. Aspen? Eh, he’s there. We don’t need to talk about him though. The point is, I love everyone in these books. Are they high class literature? No, but I could not care less. These books are so much fun and I think about them constantly. I’m pretty sure I’ve spent like five hours this past week thinking about America and Maxon and their children and how happy I am for them.
Do these books frustrate me sometimes? I mean, yes. Sometime I just want to find a way to jump into these books and yell “America, I’m gay, and even I know Maxon is the better choice!” but as of yet I have not figured out how to do that. But while sometimes these books are frustrating, they are also fun, funny, and heartbreaking and they always make me feel all of the things. I can picture 50 year old me rereading these books for the 50th time because they make me genuinely happy and that can be hard to do sometimes.
Okay, I could probably keep going for a long while because there are a lot of books that I constantly reread but I think I’m going to cut myself off their because I’m pretty satisfied with this list. How about you, are there are books or series that you will never stop rereading? Let’s chat in the comments!
I’m rereading Harry Potter again for the 247987598237982347th time. I did reread The Selection again earlier this year. I need to reread The One. Do you reread all of the books or just stop after The One? ALSO, do you have The Selection coloring book? It’s the closest thing we have to a movie!
I also reread Vampire Academy and Bloodlines and Sophie Kinsella books. This year I’m also rereading The Baby Sitter’s Club books as my library Overdrive gets them… its less embarrassing to read on the Kindle!
I reread P.S. I like you by Kasie West for the first time this year I think. Can’t remember what year it was actually.
I have books I WANT to try rereading soon though. I definitely want to reread Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson because I can’t stop thinking about that book! But there’s soooo many books out there that I need to read soon. I really shouldn’t have spent most of this month rereading, but I did.

Normally when I reread The Selection I reread all five books, I don’t really like the last two but I feel weird stopping without reading them. I do have the coloring book, its so much fun! I love the quotes in particular.
I spend way way way too much time rereading but I don’t necessarily regret that lol.

And cool! I love the coloring book too, it’s my favorite one I have. My favorite picture I have colored from it is the Hello my dear quote. 😀

Rereading is THE best. I have been doing so much of it lately and you know what? I’m not even sorry about it. I loved this post! Also, I feel like I KNOW you because I guessed that you were going to include 3 of the 5 on this list. You have a Brand and I am a fan of it.

I reread literally all the time, its so much fun. Also I love that you could guess some of them! I love having a Brand. Just out of curiosity, which three did you guess?

The PJO series and The Miseducation of Cameron Post were pretty easy guesses! I didn’t guess the exact book by Brigid Kemmerer but I guessed that I’d see her name!!
