Hello, friends. I said in the intro to a previous post that I was doing book tags because they are the easiest to do during my hectic college schedule and apparently I’m really keeping that up because I’m still kind of drained from writing the thing I posted yesterday (check it out if you haven’t seen it, maybe?). Anyways, Gilmore Girls. My favorite TV show of all time. Lets talk about how much I love these characters and how much I love books.
Without further ado, lets go. Tag found here.
Lorelai: A character with a witty or sarcastic sense of humor
Percy from the Percy Jackson series
Percy is like, the epitome of a sarcastic character in my mind. You cannot get more witty than him, even back when he was a twelve year old he was cracking hilarious jokes that still make me laugh as an adult.
Rory: Your favorite classic book
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
I answered this question in a tag about a week ago (wow I really do love me a good book tag these days, don’t I) but I will never give up an excuse to talk about how much I love this book because it’s not a book that tends to come up often when you’re talking about modern YA books. Basically, I love this book. I desperately want to reread it, but it is 600+ pages and I don’t have the time for that right now.
Johnny and Owen and all of the other notable characters in this book are written marvelously, as is the book and all of the themes within it.
Also, I totally think Rory would love the discussion on Vietnam so I feel like I get bonus points.
Luke: A book you secretly love, but are afraid to admit
I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
I feel like I should start off by saying that I am not afraid to admit I love any book, all books should be loved. This series, however, is like, a hot mess. It drags on then rushes too fast, the characters aren’t developed (especially the female ones, someone please list me out character traits for number six that aren’t “strong” or “badass”), but like, I still love them. They’re quick and they’re fun and I love getting sucked into this plot line, even when it, well, sucks.
Lane: A musical character
America from The Selection series
America, my ever so talented baby!! America plays, like, five instruments. And sings sometimes. Like, what? How are you so talented? Why am I so, um, not? I don’t have the answers to any of these questions.
Sookie: A book you devoured
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth
Another day, another way I find to include Cam in every post I make. But really, I read this book in one day. Given that it is like 500 pages long and I read it during my finals week, that is quite the accomplishment and I would definitely say that means I devoured it.
Miss Patty: A book that was ruined by the hype
Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
I will come right out and say it, I really didn’t like this book and whenever I end up rereading it my rating is going to plummet. Just saying. However, I feel like I wouldn’t have been so disappointed and upset with this book if it wasn’t so hyped up. Everyone was talking about it, everyone was anticipating it, and Cassandra Clare kept revealing vague hints that hinted at great plot lines that turned out to be very lackluster and somewhat uninteresting.
That short story at the end though? Loved it. Amazing. Beautiful. I want to put it in a frame.
Emily: An expensive book
The Waterstones edition of Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
Have you seen this edition of LM in people’s photos? If so, did you know that these things are selling for like 400 to 500 dollars? Because, like, they are. It blows my mind, but, they are.
Paris: An uptight character
Michael Merrick from Elementals by Brigid Kemmerer
I feel like I should start this off by saying I completely understand why Michael is so uptight. I mean, being legally responsible for three (kind of four) teenagers, running a business, and having to hide from the Guides? The dude has got his work cut out for him and also, given that he doesn’t sleep a lot, he’s just living a rough like. He is, however, also really uptight. Michael is always super stressed out trying to keep his brothers out of trouble and in his custody and its very obvious at times.
Okay, that’s about it for today. I skipped two of the questions about Jess and Dean because, like, I don’t like Jess or Dean (Team Logan all the way) and I didn’t really like their questions either. Before you go, let me know if you’ve seen Gilmore Girls before and if so, what you thought about it and which team you’re on.
See you guys on Tuesday for something that is hopefully not a book tag, though I can’t promise anything.
